Concept and Research Work

Hello! Its a pleasure to have the opportunity to contribute to this project with you guys. I am very exited for my first post and I hope that you all find it helpful.

Ok! I started with some quick sketches of a raptor like creature after researching some Bobby Flay pictures. I figured that since our raptor is a chef, he could be based off the design of someone like him. I realized that it may not be the style that we were going for...so I did some more research and found something really awesome that could be where we might want to take this piece.

This is an awesome video by illustrators McBess and Simon. Along with The Mill helping them out with the 3D portion, they created a wonderfully eerie 1920's style animation. You can check out more work like this at www.McBess.com

Im really looking forward to contributing more work and resources. Again, I am really exited to work on this with you guys.

Concepts and Stuff

Some concepts for our raptor that I sketched last night. Sorry for it looking like garbage, I don't have a scanner nor working tablet pen at this moment. A few storyboards are coming as soon as I clean them up a bit.

i dont' know how to meld the steam boat willy style either, but the movement can still be very steam boat willy.

storyboard idea

(9:41:11 PM): we could have a cute little raptor that tries to steal eggs from nests so he could make an omelette
(9:41:38 PM): a cooking raptor, who ran out of a rare kind of egg, so he has to go into the den of a trex
(9:41:57 PM): and he's gets the egg, and has this whole chase sequence with this egg twice his size,
(9:42:07 PM): as a giant trex chases him down
(9:42:44 PM): and then he finally gets back to his, place, and the egg hatchs, and the baby trex eats his head off >>
(9:42:49 PM): not litterally , but >> yea
(9:42:54 PM): in a cute manner >>
an egg twice his size is the money shot
or it could be like 'MOMMY!"

i scrapped other characters and tried to go simpler when i drew these.

aireoplane

So there's a bunch of passengers stuck in a small plane

fat lady taking up seats, airpolice, gay steward and drunk pilot+ others, maybe a baby on a leash :D

then there's turbulence, somethign happens, everyone is scared, each have cameos in the beginnning to introduce them and each have shots that display their emotions, which might not be fear :o

and then relief, a sigh of relief from everyone that they didn't crash, etc etc..

maybe i'll make apicture later :o

Story idea

Okay here's the story I came up with. I kinda like the airplane idea that one of u guys suggested. So if anyone can post the story up that would be great

Basic Concept: People are way to busy to notice their surroundings and loses the meaning in their lives.

We have this ghost(i'm thinking sock puppet cute ghost) and he runs around around the city trying to scare people, but no one notices him. People either are A. talking on their cellphones, b. robbing a bank, c. jay walking on the street. etc (kinda like steve hannagans piece) The ghost does all these weird expressions trying to get noticed ( good for animators) but no one does. Discouraged the ghost flys away and decides to sit on a park bench in park. Then a kid (he's on one of those leashes things) comes to ghost and says "helloo" The ghost jumps back alittle not knowing wat to do. The mom (who's out of frame) tells the kid to come on and drags the kid out of frame, Leaving the ghost and the parkbench in frame and fades to black.
